π The Experience
Our Wakulla Springs adventure? A mix of excitement… and just a touch of chaos. π
Last weekend, Steven and I headed out on a little road trip with visions of a sandy “beach” and a relaxing day in the sun. Reality check: we arrived to a narrow, grassy riverbank instead (note to self—holiday weekends can be tricky).
We had plans to hop on a boat tour… but only one boat was running and it was already booked before we even got there.
Then came the plot twist—Steven had a reaction to something in the water, grass, or possibly a mystery creature. π« So, we packed it up and called it a day in under an hour.
Not exactly what we planned—but definitely memorable.
π₯ Sermon-by-the-Minute Moment
Even though this trip did not go as expected… it still speaks.
Sometimes things do not look like what you pictured.
Sometimes the plan falls apart before it even starts.
And yet—there is still something to take from it.

Not every moment is perfect… but every moment can still have purpose.
π½️ Gimme Some Grub π€
On our way further south (determined to salvage the day), we found a hidden gem:
Hutton’s Seafood & More (Crawfordville, FL)
- π΅ $10–$20 per person
- πͺ Covered outdoor seating (perfect since we were still in swimsuits)
- π€ Fresh seafood that absolutely delivered
Would we go back? 100% YES.
Other Food Options at the Park: (We didn’t try these, but worth noting)
✨ Soda Fountain
- Old-school vibes with milkshakes, root beer floats, hot dogs, and more
✨ The Lodge Dining Room
- π΅ $8–$20 per person
✨ Picnic tables + grills
- For the brave souls who enjoy dining with bugs ππ
π¨ Snooze Spots π️
We didn’t stay overnight, but:
Wakulla Springs Lodge (~$158/night)- Built in 1937
- Right inside the park
It’s giving historic charm—not modern luxury.
π΄ But Wait… There’s More
Even though our trip was short-lived, Wakulla Springs itself is SCENIC.
- π§ 69-degree crystal-clear water (SO refreshing)
- Kids swimming and loving it
- A floating platform in the middle of the springs
- A 22-foot observation tower (yes, people were jumping off… no, we did not π)
π¬ A Touch of Nostalgia
The lodge alone is worth seeing.
- 1930s Spanish-style architecture
- Vintage photos from the 1940s
- Old-fashioned soda fountain
Fun fact:
Scenes from Tarzan's Secret Treasure and Creature from the Black Lagoon were filmed here π

⁉️ Hidden Gem or Skip It
π Hidden Gem: The water itself—clear, cool, and unlike most places in Florida
π« Skip: Showing up without a plan on a busy weekend (learn from us π )
π° Was It Worth It?
Honestly?
Yes… but with a caveat.
This trip could easily be a 5-palm experience—
we just caught it on an off day.
