🌊 The Experience

Saint Simons Island—often called the “Isle of Whales”—feels like stepping into a place where nature and history quietly coexist.

Here, endangered right whales pass offshore, massive live oaks stretch overhead draped in Spanish moss, and hidden tree carvings seem to smile back at you if you slow down long enough to notice.

There’s a rhythm to this island.
It’s not rushed. It’s not loud.

It invites you to wander…
to look closer…
to breathe deeper.

And just when you think the island is all quiet and still…
you’ll find pockets of energy—like evenings with live music, good food, and that easy coastal atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer.

From historic gardens to coastal marsh views, every turn feels like a quiet discovery. Add in a mix of athletes, history, and food spots that have caught the attention of Guy Fieri—and you’ve got a place that somehow balances charm, flavor, and fun without trying too hard.

This place surprised us—in the best way.

Set along the salt marsh, it truly feels like an island within the island. 

Quiet. Still. Peaceful in a way that’s hard to describe until you experience it.

The screened-in balcony?
Genius.

It invites you to slow down… sit longer… and just be.

And honestly, this calm was a contrast to other parts of the island.
When we made our way over to the village area during Labor Day weekend, it was a completely different pace—busy, lots of traffic, and full of families with young kids enjoying the holiday.

👉 If you’re looking for quiet, the marsh side is where you’ll want to be.

There’s plenty to do on Saint Simons—but depending on when you go, your experience can vary.

We visited over Labor Day weekend, and the village area was definitely lively—crowded streets, heavier traffic, and lots of families with young kids making the most of the holiday.

If that’s your vibe, you’ll love it.
If not, you may find yourself gravitating more toward the quieter parts of the island—like we did.

For us, the magic was in finding the slower side.

It’s the kind of place where:

  • mornings feel meaningful
  • and the quiet does something good for your soul

This isn’t just a beach trip.
It’s a choose-your-own-pace kind of place.

✝️ A Quiet Moment from Saint Simons

There was something about Saint Simons that naturally turned our attention toward reverence.

Maybe it was the stillness of the marsh.
Maybe it was the vastness of the ocean.
Or maybe it was simply being reminded how small we are compared to the beauty and majesty of God’s creation.

A mix of excitement… and just a touch of chaos. 😅 Last weekend, Steven and I headed out on a little road trip with visions of a sandy “beach” and a relaxing day in the sun. Reality check: we arrived to a narrow, grassy riverbank instead (note to self—holiday weekends can be tricky).
