🌊 The Experience

Saint Simons Island—often called the “Isle of Whales”—feels like stepping into a place where nature and history quietly coexist.

Here, endangered right whales pass offshore, massive live oaks stretch overhead draped in Spanish moss, and hidden tree carvings seem to smile back at you if you slow down long enough to notice.

There’s a rhythm to this island.
It’s not rushed. It’s not loud.

It invites you to wander…
to look closer…
to breathe deeper.

And just when you think the island is all quiet and still…
you’ll find pockets of energy—like evenings with live music, good food, and that easy coastal atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer.

From historic gardens to coastal marsh views, every turn feels like a quiet discovery. Add in a mix of athletes, history, and food spots that have caught the attention of Guy Fieri—and you’ve got a place that somehow balances charm, flavor, and fun without trying too hard.

🌀️ The Salty Forecast (According to Steven πŸ˜„)

Before we got too serious...
we had to check the local forecast.

And by local… we mean Steven.

πŸŽ₯ Steve the Weatherman

(Steven pretending to be a weather forecaster—100% accurate… or not πŸ˜„)

Let’s just say the outlook should have included:

🌊 scattered beach walks
☀️ and a strong front of “we don’t want to leave”

🦞 Gimme Some Grub

We'll just say it…
This may have been the tastiest trip we’ve ever taken.

Not one bad meal. Not even close.

πŸ›️ Snooze Spot

🏨 Sea Palms Resort

This place surprised us—in the best way.

Set along the salt marsh, it truly feels like an island within the island.

Quiet. Still. Peaceful in a way that’s hard to describe until you experience it.

The screened-in balcony?
Genius.

It invites you to slow down… sit longer… and just be.

And honestly, this calm was a contrast to other parts of the island.
When we made our way over to the village area during Labor Day weekend, it was a completely different pace—busy, lots of traffic, and full of families with young kids enjoying the holiday.

πŸ‘‰ If you’re looking for quiet, the marsh side is where you’ll want to be.

πŸ‘™ Things To Do

There’s plenty to do on Saint Simons—but depending on when you go, your experience can vary.

We visited over Labor Day weekend, and the village area was definitely lively—crowded streets, heavier traffic, and lots of families with young kids making the most of the holiday.

If that’s your vibe, you’ll love it.
If not, you may find yourself gravitating more toward the quieter parts of the island—like we did.

🌴 The Salty Takeaway

Saint Simons isn’t one thing—and that’s part of what makes it unique.

On one side, you have peaceful marsh views, quiet mornings, and space to breathe.
On the other, you’ll find a lively village area full of families, energy, and activity—especially on holiday weekends.

For us, the magic was in finding the slower side.

It’s the kind of place where:

  • time softens
  • mornings feel meaningful
  • and the quiet does something good for your soul

This isn’t just a beach trip.
It’s a choose-your-own-pace kind of place.

🌊 Final Verdict

🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴

If you’re looking for:
✔️ incredible food
✔️ peaceful scenery
✔️ meaningful, slower moments

…this one’s worth it.

✝️ A Quiet Moment from Saint Simons

There was something about Saint Simons that naturally turned our attention toward reverence.

Maybe it was the stillness of the marsh.
Maybe it was the vastness of the ocean.
Or maybe it was simply being reminded how small we are compared to the beauty and majesty of God’s creation.

While we were there, we filmed a Sermon-by-the-Minute focused on reverential fear of the Lord from Malachi 3:13–18.

In the message, we talk about how the ocean itself reflects this balance:
🌊 awe
🌊 wonder
🌊 beauty
🌊 and deep respect

Because reverential fear isn’t about dread—it’s about humility, intimacy, and recognizing the greatness of God.

This wasn’t a “pack everything” kind of trip.
It was slower than that… quieter.
